Community Guidelines

Last updated: March 29, 2026

The Eili Community is a space for believers and seekers to share biblical insights, encourage one another, and grow in understanding of Scripture. These guidelines help keep the community safe, respectful, and edifying for everyone.

1. Our Purpose

The Eili Community exists to facilitate meaningful discussions about the Bible, faith, and spiritual growth. Whether you are sharing an AI-generated insight, asking a question, or encouraging a friend, we ask that all interactions honor the spirit of Christian fellowship.

2. Be Respectful

We welcome diverse perspectives on Scripture and theology. Healthy, good-faith disagreement is natural and can be enriching. However:

  • Treat every person with dignity and kindness, even when you disagree
  • Avoid personal attacks, name-calling, or condescending language
  • Do not mock or belittle anyone's faith, denomination, or level of biblical knowledge
  • Remember that many users are learning — patience and grace go a long way
  • Engage with ideas, not with the person. Critique a viewpoint respectfully; never attack the individual

3. Prohibited Content

The following content is not permitted in any community feature (posts, comments, reactions, shared content, or profile information):

  • Harassment & bullying — Targeting, threatening, intimidating, or repeatedly antagonizing another user
  • Hate speech & discrimination — Content that promotes hatred or violence against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, nationality, or religion
  • Explicit or obscene material — Sexually explicit, gratuitously violent, or otherwise obscene content
  • Spam & self-promotion — Unsolicited advertising, affiliate links, repetitive posts, or promotional content unrelated to biblical discussion
  • Misinformation — Deliberately false claims presented as established biblical doctrine or historical fact. Good-faith interpretive differences are welcome; intentional deception is not
  • Doxxing & privacy violations — Sharing another person's private information (real name, address, phone number, etc.) without their consent
  • Impersonation — Pretending to be another user, public figure, or Eili staff member
  • Illegal content — Content that promotes or facilitates illegal activities

4. Scripture Sharing Etiquette

When sharing biblical content and AI-generated insights:

  • Be clear when you are sharing an AI-generated response versus your own thoughts
  • Respect that different translations and interpretations of Scripture exist
  • Do not present Eili's AI responses as authoritative pastoral counsel or denominational doctrine
  • When quoting Scripture, try to include the reference (book, chapter, verse) so others can look it up
  • Be mindful that your shared insights may reach people from different backgrounds and levels of biblical familiarity

5. Reporting & Moderation

If you encounter content that violates these guidelines:

  • Use the Report button on any post or comment to flag it for review
  • Select the appropriate reason and add details when helpful — this helps our team respond faster
  • Our moderation team reviews all reports and takes action based on the severity and context of the violation
  • Do not engage in vigilante moderation — report and let our team handle it
  • False or malicious reports (repeatedly reporting content that does not violate guidelines) may result in action against the reporter's account

6. Consequences of Violations

Depending on the severity and frequency of violations, consequences may include:

  • Content removal — The offending post, comment, or content is removed
  • Warning — A notice is sent to your account about the violation
  • Temporary suspension — Your community access is suspended for a period of time. You can still use Eili for personal Bible study
  • Permanent ban — Your account is permanently restricted from community features. Severe violations (threats, hate speech, illegal content) may result in an immediate permanent ban without prior warning

7. Age Requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to participate in the Eili Community. If you are between 13 and 18, a parent or legal guardian must approve your participation. We encourage families to discuss online community participation together.

8. Your Privacy in the Community

  • Your posts and comments are visible to your friends and community members
  • Your display name and profile are visible to other users. Choose a display name you are comfortable with
  • Direct shares (to friends) are only visible to the intended recipient
  • Deleted posts and comments are removed from the community feed. Note that other users may have already seen the content before deletion
  • Blocked users cannot see your content or interact with you

9. Changes to These Guidelines

We may update these Community Guidelines as the community grows and evolves. Material changes will be communicated through the app. Continued use of community features after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated guidelines.

10. Questions & Feedback

If you have questions about these guidelines, need to report a concern outside the in-app reporting system, or want to provide feedback on community moderation, please contact us at support@askeili.com.

Before You Continue

Please review how Eili works and agree to our terms.

Grounded in real Scripture & history

Eili's answers are built on the actual Bible (verified ESV/BSB text) and a curated library of documented historical and cultural sources — not invented by the AI.

  • Every Scripture quotation is pulled and verified against trusted Bible sources before you see it.
  • Historical and cultural context is drawn from a vetted reference library, not generated from scratch.
  • The AI composes the explanation around these verified sources — it does not fabricate verses or make up history.

How your data is used

To generate responses, your chat messages and the biblical passages you ask about are sent to third-party AI providers: Google (Gemini) and OpenAI (GPT).

  • Only the content of your questions is sent — not your name, email, device info, location, or contacts.
  • Providers are contractually bound not to use your data for model training.
  • You can delete your conversations at any time from Settings.

Still verify against Scripture

Even with verified sources, AI-generated explanations can occasionally be incomplete, misapply a verse, or make a reasoning error. Treat Eili as a study companion, not a final authority — always weigh responses against Scripture itself.

Terms of Use

Governs your use of Eili, including AI content disclaimers, subscription terms, and acceptable use.
